The Flour Mill District is an award-winning mixed-use precinct, a welcoming pocket of neighbourly goodness in Sydney’s Inner West. Nestled between Summer Hill to the west and Lewisham to the east, it encompasses the businesses within the historic Flour Mill complex as well as those on Hudson Street, adjacent to the Lewisham Light Rail Stop.

We are located at Flour Mill Way, Summer Hill. The Flour Mill District includes the areas around the Flour Mill at Summer Hill and includes businesses and spaces on Hudson Street adjacent to the Lewisham West Light Rail stop.

The buildings and streets within the Flour Mill district derive their names from the historic flour mill located on the site and include:

  • Flour Mill Way – the street starting at the Smith Street corner, through to Edward Street and Mungo Scott Way which are behind the Durum Silo and the Wheatstore.

Public spaces are open all day and businesses at the Flour Mill are open at different times. Cafes open every day from 7am until 2pm. Please see individual businesses for their opening times.

The Flour Mill District is conveniently located and close to a range of transport options. Accessible via:

  • Light Rail: Alight at Lewisham West light rail stop.
  • Bus: Major bus routes are available via Canterbury Road.
  • Train: Alight at Summer Hill Train station and allow 10 minutes to walk to the Flour Mill via Lackey and Smith Streets.
  • Car: limited 2-hour off street parking available in and around the Flour Mill. Limited visitor parking spaces can be found on Flour Mill Way and Mungo Scott Way.

The Flour Mill was designed with accessibility in mind, offering step-free access and public seating across the precinct. Accessibility may vary by venue. We recommend checking with individual Members and businesses if you have specific requirements. You can find them on the Businesses page. Alternatively get in touch and we can direct your query.  

The Flour Mill precinct lies on the traditional lands of the Gadigal People, of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and honour their continuing connections to land, waters, sky and community.

There’s always something happening at the Flour Mill precinct! There are a range of fitness and wellness classes each week, craft and art activities as well as a diverse range of clubs, groups and meet ups. Absolutely! Our green outdoor areas are perfect for visiting with your four-legged friend. Many of our public spaces welcome pets; however, please note that individual venue policies may vary. The precinct also features a dedicated dog park, conveniently located next to the Lewisham West Light Rail stop, a great place to meet other dog owners and let your pup play. Naturally, we encourage all visitors to practice responsible pet ownership while enjoying our spaces.
